Elefantentreffen ‘09
Our trip to the '09 edition of the Elephant Rally
As Wikipedia says,
The Elephant Rally, or Elefantentreffen, is a winter motorcycle rally, which takes place on the first weekend in February or on the last weekend in January annually in a valley between the towns of Thurmansbang and Solla in the Bavarian Forest in Germany. It is organized by the Federal Association of Motorcycle Riders in Germany.
What it really means is a weekend of crazy motorcyclists (usually around 3,000 or 4,000!) from all across Europe gathering and camping in the freezing cold, and doing their best not to fall on icy roads.
Here are some photos I took when I attended the ’09 edition with a few Italian friends.
I should clarify in advance that no stuffed elephant was hurt during the expedition.
