Motorcycle Camping Holidays

Motorcycle camping holidays can be an awesome experience, and they are one of the best ways of seeing the country in all its glory – the wind in your hair, the sun on your back (hopefully) and miles and miles of beautiful roads to take you and your motorbike down. Whether you’re a commuter, a hobbyist, a die-hard enthusiast or a new biker, camping on the back of a motorcycle (not literally) is something everyone should try at least once. If you haven’t done it before, of if you have but need inspiration for your next trip, we’ve got a few of the great UK campsites below to get your imagination going.

Kent

Folkstone is frequently used by passers through as a one-night pit stop before they hit the Channel Tunnel (or Chunnel as it is sometimes called). Don’t let that put you off, though. As a short haul destination (especially if you’re in the city) it’s got a huge amount to offer as well as the iconic Kentish coastline that we all know so well. Definitely a good one to check out. East Anglia

A bit further afield in the remote (in terms of transit links) Norfolk countryside sits Woodhill Park. Nestled into a breathtaking cliff-top location between the coastal towns of Cromer and Sheringham, this is the perfect mid-range location (again from a London origin) if you’re after some of the UK’s best (and cleanest) coastal countryside. Wales

Granted this one is for those who don’t mind riding for a while (roughly 4.5 hours from London), but being in the unspoilt and exceedingly Welsh countryside does good things for the body and soul, or so we hear. The campsite at Nant-Y-Croi (told you it was exceedingly Welsh!) will most certainly cater for those of you who like stunning views, and we hear it’s been the catalyst for some people to leave the city all together. Regardless, it is truly breathtaking, and if you get fed up of camping they have a B&B and self-catering cottages too. You’d be mad to write it off for the miles!

Cornwall

No self-respecting camping guide would be complete without giving some space up to the beautiful land that is Cornwall. While there are many layers of Cornish culture, the most accessible (and closest) falls around the surf-tastic beach of Polzeath and the fishing town of Padstow. Camping at Polzeath is an experience that stays with you, and it is for this reason that so many have fallen in love with this little cove and return year on year. For this reason it’s perhaps worth hitting the campsites on the mid or off season, but the beauty remains and it’s a great place to get a pasty! There are a number of campsites here which is further testament to its popularity. Check them out here.

You're absolutely right, Isobel - very short sighted of us! Do you have any camping spot recommendations in Scotland for us?

What? Nothing in SCOTLAND????? Why is everything so London-orientated? I know we have midges but you can't beat the roads, the views, the Craic. Head NORTH!
