At this time Husqvarna began development to convert their lightweight road bikes into motocross bikes.
From 1960 through to 1987, Husqvarna continued to produce championship winning motorcycles, gaining popularity worldwide, including in the United States where movie legend Steve McQueen rode a Husqvarna in the iconic “On Any Sunday” movie and was famously pictured on the cover for US magazine ‘Sports Illustrated’ mid-air on a Husqvarna 400 motocross model.
1986 saw a major change for Husqvarna motorcycles when their owner, Electrolux, sold to the Italian Cagiva Group, which later became MV Agusta S.p.A.
In 2007 Husqvarna Motorcycles became part of the globally successful BMW Group and has been completely revitalised, with world-class off-road bikes alongside pure road-going models, with the launch of the new Nuda 900 and Nuda 900R.
