I bought one of these as my first 'big bike' after I passed my test. I remember when I first sat on it and thought how big and heavy it was. Compared to say the BMW F650GS, which has a bigger engine, it is big and heavy. But after owning one for a few months I have to say that the BMW just seems too small now.

In terms of riding I can only compare it to my YBR125 or the Suzuki GS that I learnt on. I'm 5'11'' and the riding position is fine for me. It's a tall bike and I can put both feet down which is reassuring. The brakes are good, well the front brake is, although the front does dive down if it is a fast stop. The rear brake is fine for low speed manouvering and that's about it.

The engine is responsive and as I am building up my confidence and competence I am finding that this bike is great in the corners. My only gripe is that the gearbox is really clunky. Changing gear is smooth but it just seems to make a very mechanical sound, almost like the movement of the cogs is being amplified by the gearbox.

I bought this bike because it's an all-rounder and because I guess I didn't really now what sort of riding I wanted to do. It has got me to London and back on fair-weather commutes and I've had fun with it at the weekend. I still don't know what sort of riding I want to do and with this bike I don't have to worry.
