More celebrities than ever before have enjoyed the benefits of motorcycles and scooters this summer. From George Clooney and Cindy Crawford to Prince Harry and Dermot O’Leary, their passion for life on two wheels has been hitting the headlines.
Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are regularly spotted out on their bikes, and George Clooney was pictured enjoying a spin with Sardinian model Elisabetta Canalis alongside supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber. American chat show legend Jay Leno is another of the Los Angeles elite with a passion for bikes. He has a staggering 90 motorcycles in his garage. Leno, who was in England earlier this summer for Goodwood’s Festival of Speed, was seen out on his 1946 classic Harley WR Daytona Beach sand bike.
Closer to home Prince Harry headed the VIP guest list at the recent British MotoGP, the two-wheeled equivalent to Formula One. The Prince, who took part in a charity bike ride in Africa, was treated to a thrilling pillion ride round Donington’s famous circuit before meeting the riders on a pit lane walkabout.
Geordie stand-up comedian Ross Noble, whose new show “Things” is in London’s West End for a six week run this autumn, has a longstanding passion for motorbikes. He can also be seen on UK television channel Five in “Ross Noble’s Australian Trip”, riding his motorcycle around Australia and performing comedy about his experiences.
The freedom, fun, flexibility and sociability of life on two wheels have attracted many of Hollywood’s A-Listers. And one of the more practical advantages of motorcycles and scooters is their unique ability to cut congestion, a point not lost on X-Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary. Dermot beat the queues at the recent V Festival by arriving on a Virgin Limo bike.
Don’t forget, if you fancy a taste of what the celebrities have, you can book yourself a free taster ride on a scooter or motorbike. We can’t promise to make you as funny as Ross Noble or as glamorous as Cindy Crawford, but you will be having just as much fun!
