The UK government decision to postpone a 3p per litre rise in fuel duty is good news for cash-strapped motorists. That will save £1.50 when filling a typical 50 litre car petrol tank, welcome relief when you’re already handing over £60 or more. Petrol and diesel prices have risen so fast they’re now at their highest since 1920, even when inflation is taken into account.

But instead of just saving £1.50 every time you fill up you could be filling your petrol tank for under £20, enough for your week’s commuting!

Modern motorbike and scooter engines can get over 100 mpg – the most economical motorcycles get over 150mpg. And with Road Tax from £16 for a 125cc scooter or motorbike, no London Congestion Charge and cheap or free parking, you could be thousands of pounds per year better off. Try our Travel Savings Calculator to see how much you could save.

You can ride a 125cc motorcycle after Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) which typically takes a day and costs around £100. Better still, you can try riding a scooter or motorbike absolutely free, with a friendly qualified instructor to get you rolling, We’ll even lend you the helmet and other safety kit.

To book a free motorcycle tryout session, enter your details on the left and we’ll book you in with a training partner near you.

Remember, the 3p rise is not scrapped, just put off until January 2013. Giving you an extra 6 months to look into cheaper ways of getting around. Plenty of time to do CBT or get your full motorcycle licence and start saving some serious money!
