Riding your motorbike or scooter to work is one of the main reasons to own a motorcycle. With over a million motorcyclists in the UK, it’s the fastest-growing vehicle group since 1995. And as petrol and car parking get more expensive, congestion gets worse, and train fares rise, it’s easy to see why. So if you’re already enjoying the benefits of faster, cheaper, more convenient commuting on two wheels, be part of National Ride to Work Day on June 18th.
Local activities vary: Your motorcycle dealer may be offering free coffee or special discounts to riders taking part, or a riders’ group may have social after-work plans to make the most of the light summer evenings. Check the Ride to Work Day UK website for the latest news.
Employers and workplaces will also be showing their support for the day with some offering ‘Have a Go’ events for non-riders or 'Lunch & Learn' talks or demonstrations promoting the economy and freedom of biking. If your company would like to hold an event, just email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Want to be part of the day, but not riding yet? Why not book yourself in for a Free Ride with Get On? You can try a scooter or geared motorbike for free, away from public roads and with a friendly, qualified instructor to get you rolling. We’ll even lend you the helmet and safety kit.
If you don’t like it, you can walk away and it’s cost you nothing. But if you do like it – and most people do – there’s time to complete your CBT before June 18th. So you can get your own 125cc motorbike, scooter or moped, and be riding to work yourself on Ride to Work Day 2012.
