Motorcyclists head for France. Triumph Sprint GT SE featured

France is the most popular European destination for UK motorcyclists, according to a new report by insurer Carole Nash.

It has examined over 37,000 pieces of insurance data to identify a ‘top ten’ for motorcycle tours.  France was a clear winner with 12,430 heading across the channel to sample breathtaking routes such as as Col de Turini and Route Napoleon.

Belgium was the second most popular destination among Carole Nash motorcyclists, with 4,481 taking out insurance to visit. Belgium is known for having a thriving biking community with 450,000 registered motorcycles and popular annual events, such as the Norton Owners Club Begonia Rally and Classic Bikes Chimay.

Germany came in at third place with 3,094 riders insuring for a visit, while Spain was fourth with 2,805 .

The data also showed that June is the most popular month for insuring a motorcycle for a trip.  45% of people travelled between one and seven days, while 35% took an eight to 14-day tour.
